Ben Krewinkel (Maastricht, 1975) studierte moderne afrikanische Geschichte in Amsterdam und Pretoria. Seine Dissertation handelt von der Rolle der Frauen im dem Befreiungskampf in Mosambik. Außerdem studierte er Dokumentarfotografie an der Fotoacademie Amsterdam. Das Studium schloss er mit einer Arbeit über dieAusbildung von Krankenschwestern zur Bekämpfung von HIV in Venda, Südafrika ab, die mit „cum laude“ bewertet wurde. Er hat außerdem einen Master Abschluss der »Photographic Studies« der Universität Leiden; dazu forschte er über die die fotografische Darstellung der ‚armen Weißen‘ in Südafrika im 20. Jahrhundert. Seitdem schreibt Ben Krewinkel über Fotografie und arbeitet derzeit an einem langfristigen Projekt mit dem Titel »Africa in the Photobook«, ein Projekt über die sich verändernde visuelle Darstellung Afrikas durch das Medium des Fotobuchs.
In 2013 we invited photographers to contribute photographs to the Antifoto-Archive. Each image should deal with the idea of ANTIFOTO, what they think ANTIFOTO, should be about and the attitude of a Visual Manifesto. Everybody had to agree to us using the images for an event, which was held in cooperation with Markus Schaden during the Photoweekend in Düsseldorf in February 2013: On this weekend all images from this blog where printed and presented to the audience. They could edit their own Visual Manifesto which was then copied and stapled and added to the ANT!FOTO Manifesto Text-Issue. About 200 visitors came and about 100 unique copies where produces.
